Talin, my role model

Okay, so I’m starting to get a little concerned that Talin is becoming more of a role model to me than a son. It started the other day when I was driving him to school. I always listen to the radio; I’m a classic rock fan, so I was listening to a classic rock station as usual. Well I don’t know the name of the song that was playing on the radio or who sings it, although I think I would say ‘duh!’ if someone told me. But the songs lyrics go like this, “I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me”. That’s the chorus and they sing it over and over again.
Talin says: “I don’t like this song”
Me: “I’m sorry” (not really paying attention at the time)
Talin: “They are saying terrible things in this song mom”
Me: “Oh… yeah they are” – I turn the radio off
Two minutes later.
Talin: “That terrible song is still in my head mom”
Yeah, my parenting skills need some work. I just can’t let go of that classic rock.
Then I lost my ‘recipe’ pen, the one I use to write down the recipes and grocery lists with. It wasn’t a big deal; there are plenty of writing instruments in the house. But Talin came into my room this afternoon.
Talin: “Mom, I found your recipe pen, with your recipe book!”
Me: “Thank you Talin, that was nice of you”
Talin: “I’m going to put it away for you, so come here and I’ll show you where I put it”
I dutifully follow.
Talin: “Be sure you put it back in this spot every time you use it, okay mom?”
Me: “Okay Talin
He’s going to make a great parent some day.

He is so cute! He's been like that since he was old enough, though, so it's not surprising! He'll definitely keep you in line! Also, what are doing blogging at freaking 6:18 AM!!!! Isn't it the dead of freezing winter there????

I love Talin, he's a funny boy! I wish I had a child to keep me in line. My boys love rock music. Noah's a head banger, Wyatt plays the air guitar, and we've all seen Wesley dance. their fav songs include eye of the tiger, juke box hero, and plush.

He is so sweet and adorable. My kids have a tendency of keeping me in line as well. What's amazing to me is that they know right from wrong (with certain things)at such a young age. Gotta love kids!

If I didn't know Talin personally, I'd hardly believe your stories. He is definitely one of a kind. I love that boy!

That is so sweet. It almost makes me sad when Bethany is being so grown-upish. They grow up so fast it is hard to keep up.

How cute is that! Wise beyond his years. I love that he had to show you where he put your pen.

I have perfect faith in Talin to raise his mother.
Hey that isn't classic rock and it isn't any better than the stuff you were listening to. Case in point stones, prince, and janice. Although you didn't seem to raise your mother well with that help.

Yes Talin is a good boy, I often wonder why he was sent to me to raise!
Mom aka Sinner, the song we were listening to was from Beck and I believe it came out in the 80's, but any more the 80's seem classic and it was being played on a classic rock station. As for Stones, Prince and Janice, I think they are now being considered ancient rock.
