It's only 9:30 and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I felt determined to stay home this weekend (which is a big deal for me) and try to potty-train Collin. I've had several comments in regards to my youngest who just turned three in November, as to why he's not wearing underwear yet and when did I plan on starting to make him. Well, first instinct from me is irritation and anger. Unless you've had a little boy and attempted to potty-train him, I don't want to hear it. And if you have and you've had an easy time at it, then add in a three old with the attitude of a thirteen year old, the mouth of a teenage girl and a stubbornness that often surpasses my own. We've only been up for two hours this morning and already he's yelled at me, thrown fits and laid on the floor, told me that he can't do it, it's too hard to do, he doesn't want to try, etc...ect...ect... So I'm looking for some kind of suggestion, support, or miraculous fairy dust to get us through the weekend, and to have Collin wearing underwear when it's over. With Talin it was easy, he was persuaded by treats and stickers and loved working towards a goal. Collin could care less. The promise of a piece of candy or a sticker or new Lego's holds no sway over him. I'm trying to find his currency (as Dr. Phil would say), but it switches constantly. I'm going to continue to pray for patience and hopefully find ten minutes to take a shower in between trips to the toilet with Collin. Although I probably could have showered in the time it took me to write this post today, but I feel that the writing of the post was much more beneficial to my mental state than a shower would have been at this point.

When I potty trained Cale I made a game out of it. I put cheerios in the toilet so he could shoot them with his urine. He loved it. Good luck and just be patient every child is different.
You crack me up. I think it's just going to be hell...but I believe in you Megs. That boy is hilarious! Aidan's currency was a light saber. I wonder if Collin's could be food-oriented. The boy loves to eat. Or does he like to go somewhere & do something special - Wyatt's prize was Chuck E. Cheese, I think. Hm...I'll think on it some more.
Potty training is just awful. I can't even imagine with a boy. Candy has been our method of choice, but I'm thinking the cheerios idea above might work with a boy! Good luck!
Bethany likes money and chocolate so she got chocolate money if she went poop. When we ran out she got pennies. My sister-in-law would do a sticker chart that had a reward after so many stickers. She also bought some little toys at the dollar store for the little rewards and then had a big reward after a lot of stickers
I feel for you Megan. I hear boys are so much harder to potty train than girls, so I am rather worried about my upcoming boy. So make sure you write down lots of tips for me when it is Crew's turn and hopefully he will be trained before entering school!
Hey, African Princess . . . is that you Andersyn???? I hope JoDee isn't calling herself African Princess nowdays and Crew is the only Crew I know! Anyway - good luck Megan and if he doesn't do it, then relax -- he'll go by the time he's five, I'm sure of it! (otherwise, I'd start studying up on homeschooling since public schools probably won't let him in!)
Andee has somehow invaded my space and I can't get me back up. I guess only the African Princess can reign now!
that cracks me up, African princess
Jim asked me if you make Andee potty train the kids. I laughed.
