I meant to post Collin's birthday last week, but we didn't get the electrician in until Wednesday and a lot of things came up as well, that I'll talk about another time. But, putting that aside, here is my beautiful baby on his birthday, although not his official b-day, because it was on the 22nd, which was Thanksgiving, so we celebrated on the 21st.
Collin turns four!
Of course we gave in.
Talin was really excited to be there, I don't know what's going on with him in this picture though. And I did not make a cake this year, I know, it's shocking. Instead I took Collin to WalMart and let him pick out his own cake and this is what he wanted. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cupcakes. He was happy, and needless to say I was the only adult that indulged in the cupcakes myself, I have a crazy sweet tooth, everyone else was turned off by the three inches of red and green frosting.
Okay, so I'm so ticked, because I can't get the one picture to load of him blowing out his candles. So we're skipping to the eating of the cupcakes. This is Susie, Talin and Collin chowing down. He had another friend there, but he was socially shy and a little camera shy, so I have no picks of him with the group.
That's one happy birthday boy! He had been waiting so long for this day.
Opening presents, which consisted of action figures, his favorite. I've been attacked numerous times this week by his new Wolverine who shoots out claws at you and his Batman shooting plastic weapons. Fun! I live in a world of boys!
Later that night we used some coupons we had been hoarding for awhile (I know we're pathetic!), to go to Mexican food that night. It's a hole in the wall place as it is, the same one I took Mandi and JoDee to while they were here, they'll remember. Anyway, Talin blurted out to our waitress that it was Collin's birthday. So this is the result.
I think this was his favorite part of the day. Wearing the sombrero. Most kids would never wear this thing, it probably weighed five pounds, but I could hardly get Collin to take it off when it was time to leave.
It was a great day, and fun to be with my family, especially Tom all day.
And that is not frosting on Tom's chin, I think my red-eye attacked his face and I couldn't undo the edit.
He loved it. Three waitresses sang to him in Spanish, brought him dessert and finished with topping his nose with whipped cream.
The best was as Collin was going up to bed he started to argue with us that he hadn't really turned four, he had actually turned five. This says a lot about his personality, he's so stubborn, I didn't want to argue, so I let him believe he turned five. But who would argue about that? Luckily he hasn't brought it up again and has faced the fact that you don't miraculously skip a year. He's accepted four.

I can't believe the boy is four! That's hilarious that he would actually argue about being five. Crazy. Chuck-E-Cheese looks fun - not. But at least the kids have fun and yes, I could see how you would be the only person to eat one of those cupcakes, frosting and all. Disgusting! I also love the sombrero and I think you're right that he's probably the only child that would happily keep it on the whole time.
I love the sombrero pictures...and totally can imagine you eating those cupcakes..you always were a cake & thick frosting girl.
Thanks for sharing all of the pictures!
What a fun day!! It is always nice to have your family to yourself for a day. I love the sombrero pics too!!
Hi Meg, Collin is getting so big I think Talin did NOT like the gross cupcakes but Cassi sure would of you and Cassi and those YUKY thick frosting cupcakes and cookies---Thanks for the pictures they were great.... Love ya
I have a confesion. I ate two of those cupcakes.
It looks like you guys had a wonderful party! I would have eaten the cupcakes too, but I probably would have done a little frosting scraping.
Okay, I love the b-day pictures but where is the retrospective on little Collin's life. I wanted to see newborn Collin pictures because I still think he was one of the most beautiful newborns around.
I found your blog through someone else but I have to say I completely understand being attacked by action figures. I have 2 boys (no girls) ages 9 and 3. They keep me SO busy! My 3 yr old argues with me about which way is right and which way is left. If we're turning left and he wants to turn right he will just scream that it's right until I just give up and ignore him. *Sigh* I love my kids though! :)
WOW Tom you ate 2 of the frosting topped cupcakes---Megan must have been proud!
