Our Blizzard
I've been a bit disappointed by our expected blizzard that has been in the forecast this week. It was suppose to start yesterday at 9 am. Grocery stores were packed to stock up on basic goods, generators purchased by some and Tom's university even shut down campus at 1:30 that afternoon. Yet nothing seemed to really happen. Tom and I finally got restless and went to Target at 4:00, just to wander and of course end up with several useless purchases. When we went out to the car at 5:00 the wind had definitely picked up and snow was falling, but it wasn't the worst conditions I've ever been in, and I didn't feel that it warranted a blizzard warning and radio interruptions on what to do if you're stuck in it. Hmmm....I'm starting to think that Iowans are a bunch of wimps when it comes to weather. 50 MPH winds have been expected, but I don't think they're coming. I'm still waiting for something big, the warning doesn't end until 6 this evening. Maybe I'll be satisfied that it's a true blizzard if I lose power and can't leave my home for days. Tom did have school this morning though, which made me sad because I was so expecting to have him around, I had visions of breakfast and bacon being cooked when he got up. No, he just showered and went to school. And I made him drive the suburban, because you never know, a 50 MPH gust of wind might come along and blow his little transam right off the road. So now I'm carless as well as blizzardless. Oh well, I guess I'll continue to pray for Spring to come soon!

I can't believe you're so disappointed! You should be grateful there wasn't a natural disaster! You crazy girl. At least you got to spend the day with Tom. Sorry you're stuck today -- call and we'll waste a couple hours talking - today should be a crazy one, but I always have time for you!
Sometimes I think the news people want the weather to be worse than it is, so they hype it up. Twice this week we've been told we'll wake up to icy, snowy conditions and it's always just rain. I guess people would freak out if they didn't warn us, but it does get old after a bit. I hope spring comes soon for you!
Tom has a transam???!
