The Doughnut

I’ve been struggling with my weakness lately. And I didn’t realize it was a weakness until lately! Vanilla frosted doughnuts. Yum!! When I was little I was often Cyndee’s grocery shopping companion, and a stop by the bakery was inevitable for a doughnut each time. I loved it, and it’s a fond memory. Now I find myself alone quite frequently with Collin, and it has slowly become a habit to stop by the bakery to pick out a doughnut for him. Bad idea. I don’t remember my Cyndee ever buying herself a doughnut, so why should I, now in the mother role, feel I need one while buying my baby one? And how unhealthy are doughnuts? I’ve been trying to eat better, but the doughnuts have totally thrown me for a loop. I need to stop. And to top it off today, I bought an extra doughnut for Talin, who is at preschool. Do you think the doughnut has lasted even fifteen minutes in my presence? Um no. Sorry Talin, mom ate your doughnut. Not that he ever has to know that he had a doughnut, but for sure Collin won’t let me get away with this.

Cyn introduced my boys to the same habit & I can hardly ever escape the store without doughnuts for the car ride home. I'm not huge on store doughnuts, but love the homemade variety. MMM.

Doughnuts are one of my many weaknesses. I like to have them on Sundays. We always did as kids. Not a good thing, but a comfort thing for sure.

I don't blame you for eating it.That doughnut looks tasty. Makes me want to go to Krispy Kremes.

Megan,
I just thought I'd let you know that I just asked my husband to make a doughnut run. I have no will-power!

I feel your pain Mandy, perhaps we can overcome our doughnut urges together.

I'm sorry for starting this but it was a small pleasure in my life and by the time I got to raising Megan I was tired and she was bad and this equals a doughnut! Megan you had a little fit throwing habit at the store and I solved it. By the way, I did indulge on occasion and still do. Cyn

I remember going to the store with my mom and would get a cookie or some other sort of treat that had to be eaten before we I got home or else everyone else would know that I got a treat. I think the price limit was always $0.25 though.

Cyndee's comment cracked me up! I haven't made doughnuts for such a long time -- dang, Amy! Now I'm going to have to make some.

Amy makes awesome homemade doughnuts!
Somehow I skipped that tradition - I think I always chose croissant rolls rather than the doughtnut and mom has not taught my children that one . . . yet.
