Catch up

I have a significant amount of blogging to catch up on. We had the Nauvoo trip, JoDee's visit, Caleb's blessing day, but I have not had time to sit down and blog about it because of this sweet boy.

He started coughing Friday night, took him into the doctor on Monday and big surprise, he has not been gaining weight very well. He's only 8 pounds 15 ounces and off the charts.

So I was asked to use the breast pump, put the milk in the bottle and feed him that way so we could measure the amount he's getting. Well, he refuses to take the bottle and just ends up screaming hysterically. So he doesn't eat. Long story short, my milk hasn't come in for over a day now and my child won't bottle feed, so I have a fun new toy where I hook up tubes to my breast that drip the milk in while Caleb is latched on. Lovely. When I get some spare time I'll blog about all the fun stuff.

Oh Meg, that's got to be stressful for you (and perhaps a little amusing visually). I hope he starts eating better. He sure is a cutie!

I'm so sorry. Breastfeeding is so difficult for me. When Marshall was in the NICU, I had to pump too so I completely relate. Plus, my milk never really came in very much so it was always a struggle and Marshall refused to bottle feed. I did finally get him to use the Avent bottles with the slowest flow nipple. Hang in there Meg...I'm praying for you!

I just remembered something. Have you contacted the La Leche people in your area? They might be able to help you. I remembered that power pumping helped bring in my milk. I remember crying all the time and hating breastfeeding because it wasn't going well but I had no other choice. There are some herbal meds you can take and I know I was prescribed a medicine that was supposed to help but it didn't help me. There is a breastfeeding yahoo group. I'll join it and ask questions for you because I'm betting you don't have a lot of time.

I am dying at the thought of that whole feeding system. It makes me squirmy. But anything for that cute boy! His face is looking much more mature, but his cute little body is still an infant's. Hopefully this will help & your milk will come back. You've had so much!

Oh my gosh Megan, he is so cute! I just want to squish on him.

I am so sorry you are having trouble with the breastfeeding thing. I wish I had advice, but I didn't end up breastfeeding Ry.

Oh, Megan... that has to be crazy. Poor guy. I hope this new system works for both of you! So cute to see him sitting up like that!
