Monday we saw Dr. Mooradian (Caleb's cardiologist). He determined Caleb to be way too small to undergo heart surgery on Wednesday, so he proposed postponing the surgery for 2-4 months.
Okay...I mean if your doctor is telling you he doesn't feel good about your child having heart surgery and saying things like, "let's give him a better chance with more weight on him" and stuff like that, you're going to agree.
So we did.
Surgery postponed.
Surgery postponed.
Our new job is to fatten him up like a Thanksgiving turkey, the doctor's words once again. So on Friday we visited Dr. Boonstra (Caleb's pediatrician) and he set us up with the NG Tube.
My poor baby was quite upset.
Cutest boy in the world!

Thanksgiving Turkey... I like it:) So in our prayers I guess instead of asking the Lord that, "Caleb grow and thrive," we'll change it to, "Please bless that Caleb can get fat like a Thanksgiving Turkey."
I also love seeing Caleb in that outfit, you let us borrow it when Evan was born and I have pictures of him in it.
He's the cutest little Thanksgiving Turkey I ever saw! Marshall had an NG tube in the NICU. I'm sorry Caleb has to have one. Hopefully it will be temporary. There is a feeding group on Yahoo I used to belong to. Many of them have G-Tubes.
Caleb is cute no matter what's coming out of his nose. :) I hope the feeding tube works. It's frustrating when a baby decides he's done eating--short of a feeding tube, you can't *make* them eat more. (I try that often with my little Sophie and it doesn't work.)
You can do this Megan---you are the BEST mom ever you just stay positive he needs it as well as your family... Luckily Cyn is there to support great to have mom around... WE love you and you are in our prayers always he is getting so big and so darn cute... Love you tons!!
I don't know if I should feel worse for Caleb or you...I would have trouble dealing with the tubes, too. Poor little guy. But he is cute, and I'm sure he'll fatten right up. Which makes it all worthwhile.
Oh the tube thing would be awful. I hope that you won't have to do that for much longer.
He's such a cutie!
Poor little man, but it's all for the best, right? I guess it's better for him to fatten up for the surgery rather than rush it.
What a sweet boy!! You are doing a wonderful job and you guys are always in our prayers. Love ya!!
Hello we need an update.....
He's adorable! This is your cousin diana, I got to your blog thru amy's. I can't imagine what you're going through (I'm a little behind in the family news), but it just seems intense. Now that I'm a mom (I have a 3 month little boy), everything that happens to babies hits a little different place in my heart. I'll keep praying for you.
